This time of year my thoughts of summer vacations start drifting northward in anticipation of our annual fishing trip to Alaska. Every trip brings new memories and experiences and this year’s trip promises more of the same. I’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to go up 19 out of 20 summers for business and pleasure. I always bring back plenty of fresh-caught seafood, and great memories. Each year seems to be getting warmer and sunnier. Although this warmer weather doesn’t bode well for the environment we do enjoy being able to enjoy outdoor dining at our usual cabin rental.
It may be a long trip up to Alaska for most, but with land, sea and air options for traveling, there is bound to be a method that fits your situation. All it takes is a bit of planning and willingness to get creative. One way we have been able to go up so many summers is by sharing a cabin, car and expenses to bring the price down. If you get an Alaska Air Visa card one of the rewards is an annual companion ticket that makes flying affordable. Bottom line is; if you want to go badly enough you will find a way.
Here are some of my favorite photos of past trips to edge you on.
Alaska is huge and there is someplace just right for your vacation. If you need any help visiting any these places, post questions using the comment function and I’ll help in any way I can. Alaska is waiting for you to come on up.
