Lady’s Manor Steeplechase: Jarrettsville, MD
One of the new and different events I’ve attended since moving to Maryland is the My Lady’s Manor Steeplechase race-more properly called ‘My Lady’s Steeplechase Races, at Ladew Topiary Gardens. It’s thrilling to get within a few feet of the riders and their horses as they hurl themselves over the would-be barriers while running near top speed. Food and drink is a big part of the event.
The race course is lined with party tents on one side.
Ladies tend to wear high boots to the race, and their are many ladies at this event.
Here they come a thundering right at you!
And over one of many jumps.
Kids and big dogs are welcome and seem to have a blast.
Little dogs with grownups are welcome too.
The last race of the day is a highlight of the race.

If you go, My Lady’s Manor Steeplechase is in mid-April and you need to buy VIP tickets ahead of time if you want to have a tent, park close, or partake in the special options like the champagne reception.
